Something in the music seemed to have the same effect on our mouths.

A very gracious Louis Bellson after an exhausting duet.

With Taj Mahal, Mark Heshima Williams, and Bob Crawford recording my favorite Mose Allison song "Your Mind is on Vacation and Your Mouth is Working Overtime" for the Mose Allison tribute record "If You’re Going to the City".

With Taj Mahal.

With the phenomenal Gregory Porter, one of the most original and versatile singers in the world today.
This photo was at a concert we played at Stanford's Memorial Auditorium with a 65 piece orchestra. We played material from his Nat King Cole tribute album featuring the incredibly creative arrangements of Vince Mendoza. I actually played with Gregory many years ago, before he was famous. Everyone who heard him knew it was just a matter of time before he achieved wider recognition. So gratifying to see great people have success!

With Jon Faddis, one of the greatest trumpet players in the world and musical director of the Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra, at a concert with an All-Star big band at Stanford University’s Bing auditorium. We played a tribute and retirement party for my good friend, band leader, trumpet player and educator, Fred Berry. A wonderful evening!

A fantastic night, playing with the legendary Stanley Clarke at SF Jazz 8/12/23.
